Diana McNab Workshop with The Paralympic Ski Team in Aspen, CO
Last week I gave a great Sports Psychology Workshop to The Paralympic Ski Team in Aspen Colorado. This is an amazing group of young adults that train and ski with their Head Coach Kevin Jardine. They monoski and can out ski anyone on the mountain. I go skiing with them and I can barely keep up!!! They have such a low center of gravity that they can carve a turn better than the pros! It is amazing to watch them power through a race course. I feel honored to work with them and know them!
I taught them a “Pre-Race Psyche Plan” that will help them with their consistency of performance. We spoke about pre-race hydration and diet, sleep rituals, visualization, affirmations, cue words and pre-race rituals and warm-ups to get them into “The Zone!” I use colored markers and have them draw and create reminders on my hand-outs…so they can take something home and live the Workshop!
They are dedicated and want to be the best that they can be….skiing gives them a sense of freedom and accomplishment that they don’t get anywhere else! So it is a very special experience and a very special relationship for me! I feel blessed to be able to work with them!
